Tema 2:   Asking for and giving directions/ prepositions of place


Evaluación: Mapa mental 20% - giving directions near my house and city.

Steps:


  1. Hoja blanca, dirección horizontal realizar mapa mental con al menos 5 ramificaciones/ flechas. Las flechas o ramificaciones deberán llevar el nombre de el lugar cal que desea llegar desde casa como: bakery, restaurant, supermarket, mall, gym, club, school, park, museum, pharmacy,  hospital, square,  building,  etc. 
  2. Describir cómo llegar a 5 lugares diferentes desde tu casa hasta el sitio seleccionado. Example:PARK: first I go out of my house, cross the main street, Go down the hill and you'll find the entrance to the park.
  3. Colocar ilustraciones de cada lugar y preposiciones de lugar (máximo 5 oraciones por rama). 
  4. Seguir las oraciones del ejemplo.
  5. En una rama colocar el siguiente titulo: "My favorite place in town" mi lugar favorito en la ciudad, escribir como llegar hasta allí usando preposiciones de lugar , there is/ there are y verbos en presente simple.
  6. Mirar video antes de comenzar con el mapa mental.

  • opposite
  • next to
  • between
  • at the end of
  • in front of
  • on the left/right (of)
  • behind

Examples

  • The police station is on the corner of the Main Street.
  • The post office is opposite the lake.
  • The school is next to the hospital
  • There’s a fashion shop between two tall buildings.
  • There are two sport shops in front of the stadium.
  • On the left of the City Hall is the kindergarten.
  • The bus station is behind the train station.

There’s a post office next to the police station.
There’re …
There’re two big buildings on the corner.It’s called …
It’s called the Town market.

Direction

Across means on the other side. “I live at no 1, London Road. Across from me (on the other side of the road) is no 2, London Road.”

“Go across the road.” (=cross the road)

Walk along the river. (follow the river)

Walk by the river. (walk near the river)

Walk beside the river. (walk next to the river)

Go up the stairs.

Go down the stairs.

(You can also walk up or down a road or street.)

Go through the tunnel. (You go in one side, then you come out on the other side.)

Go straight on (at a crossroads or a roundabout).

Go round the corner.

Walk around a town. (Walk in a circle, or in a random pattern.)

Go past something – walk past something so that it then is behind you.

Go over something – go over / cross the railway line.
